It’s probs been about 5 weeks since Nic spoke to me about the idea of ACT. At first I was a little shocked that he would want to partner on something with me - but after thinking about it it made perfect sense.

I think I have sold myself short many times in my life. The compulsion to do get things done and understand the problem deeply has created a dependency on others to find what to do next. Yes I have done my own thing on a few occasions but it would always be the side gig, the fun stuff, the things that were not going to support the family or build a community.
‘the edge of competency
In thinking about this even deeper, I think this has given me the perfect training ground to now build ACT with Nic is a way that I can hold my own while continuing to be pushed to my limit. I heard this person talk about ‘the edge of competency’ the other day and it really resonated. I want to live my life right on that edge of being confident in what I am doing but with an edge of danger, unknown, curiosity and effort. Do things that I kinda know but can gather more knowledge and experience to do every better.
Since considering ACT as a new wave of energy I have primarily focused on how information can be collated and used in a way that creates movement and limits blockers. This is all built on Notion and I want to limit myself to that tool for the timbering so I can see how many processes can be funnelled through there to increase productively, clarity and connection with Nic and the people we will work with.
It is based on this idea of one master database system that you then link across dashboards and pages to filter information and tasks. The main focus for this week is to have a beta that we can use to maintain flow for current ideas whilst building the business support parts in the background. The main areas I have been working on are:
Master task database
- This is where you can see all current tasks and filter by owner, dates, projects, etc
- This database is then linked to each project and filtered to only show those tasks
- This can also be viewed in a master dashboard
Quick capture
- This is a simple database where we can quickly capture information at hand and then review to send to the right area
- Idea is meant to be quick and only a limited number of fields
- I think a project field is good and then can have a created date automated
- Then once a week we both review and make sure thoughts go where they need to go
- This is mobile friendly and you should be able to add information within a a few clicks
Objectives, Goals and key results
- This is a simple database built on there separate tables
- Aim is that this filters up into on core % and can review then each week seeing simple progress or blockers
Project database
- This is where all ideas are housed
- Built in Gallery view for easy access
- each project has a page with linked tasks, resources, linked contacts and linked customers (this one will have more info later.
External Project base
- This is sententially the website for now
- Has all projects with key details
- Built around a template when you add a new project they all look similar (select the elements you want and delete the others)
- Has a form at the bottom for people to contact us (they select what they have to offer)
- Idea is that this is then transferred to a website when we are ready and we make a similar template that looks radder
Dashboards
- Working on two separate dashboards (one desktop and one mobile)
- Aim is to have databases/pages above in a way that is easy to float around / useful for jumping in daily and updating quick parts
- Mobile one is mainly clickable buttons that get you to areas that you will use on mobiles (quick capture, project info, links to share externally)
