The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has one of the highest rates of return to corrective services, with 63.4% of people released from the ACT prison returning to prison or community corrections within two years.
But, evidence from a 2022 review indicates newly created Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders (DATO)s are starting to help.
But not enough people are graduating.
Of the 104 people who were assessed, only 50% were issued a DATO and 30% had their DATO canceled before completion.
